Vegetable-tanned leatherUpdated a year ago

For our models such as Sandra, Astrid, Scarlett etc.

Vegetable tanning is a leather processing method that uses natural tannins extracted from plant substances to transform raw hides into leather. Unlike other tanning methods that use synthetic chemicals, vegetable tanning is based on traditional techniques and uses natural materials (plant extracts, for example).

How to care for it :

  • Dry dust the shoe with a soft brush.
  • You can clean the leather lightly with soapy water, using a special vegetable-tanned or pH-neutral soap. Avoid using chemical or aggressive products, as they may damage the natural texture of the leather. Allow to dry.
  • Then apply a beeswax-based oil, which is essential for protection. We recommend Saphir's vegetable-tanned leather balm.
  • For beeswax-based products, buffing is a very important step, as the smoothed wax will not let water through, and the leather will be water-repellent. Use a balm with at least 20% beeswax for maintenance.

Avoid using cleaning products containing alcohol.
